Lake Technologies Signs
 

Lake Technologies (Lake Technology) produced hundreds of display signs using Staver-Signalex "72" series dots.  These signs were often used for variable message (VMS) displays on highways and bridges. 

Pictured below is a sign in northern Virginia that was produced by Lake Technology in the late 1980's.  It uses 16" 5 x 7 matrix panels in a 3 line by 14 panel arrangement.

This sign was recently rebuilt by the M.C.Dean company using components from ScoreTronics.  The sign was equipped with brand new matrix panels to restore its original brilliance and display function.  A number of other components were rebuilt to restore everything to original condition or better.  It is expected to get another 20 years plus from the sign with this rebuild, which was done at a fraction of the cost of replacing the sign.

In addition to supplying electromagnetic indicators and matrix panels, ScoreTronics has fabricated replacement row and column driver boards that are used in the controller for this sign.  These replacement boards match the fit and function of the original boards but are improved in design to make them more electrically rugged, and they use modern components.  The availability of these replacement boards allows the owners to continue to support these signs, stretching the lifetime of the sign by double or triple.

ScoreTronics maintains an engineering staff that is capable of duplicating replacement parts for other signs that use the Staver-Signalex "72" series indicators when the original manufacturer can no longer supply the parts.  The cost of this depends on the complexity of the component, the quantity needed, and the level of available documentation for the component.  Contact ScoreTronics for more information on this.
